Beginning with sounds of a storm brewing Right Where You Are has a slowish tempo and a triplet feel. Best described as theatrical, poetic whilst giving the sensation of a strange cirus in motion. Written and performed by British Indy Rock band Howl Griff instruments include lead vocals, acoustic steel string guitar, electric guitars including a 12 string Rickenbacker, electric bass guitar, acoustic rock drums, backing vocals, tambourine and organ. The running length is four minutes and eleven seconds.
Strumming acoustic guitars and what sounds like a church organ support the poetic and somewhat magical verse lyrics which are followed by an uplifting chorus that features jangly 12 string guitars and lush harmonies. The second verse develops with the inclusion of arpeggios from the Rickenbacker and clever question and answer type responses from the backing vocals. More full chorus before a darker and spacious contrast which gives way to one last vocal rich chorus. The lyrics are probably the centre piece of Right Where You Are and work on several levels including double entendre and irony thus reinforcing the theme that nothing is ever really what it seems.
Very much a psychedelic Indy pop sound with a Pink Floyd sound and subject type matter and a massive Beach Boys type vocal arrangement. Slighlty Baroque sounding with very ambiguous lyrics and imagery rich music. Suitable for all kinds of media productions, especially film production, television dramas, television documentaries, web development and pod casts.
