Liquid From A Gun is a psychedelic acoustic indy rock song that is both intriguing and powerful. Cleverly using dynamic changes ranging from sparse acoustic arpeggios and lingering reverb drenched vocals to walloping sixteenths from the drums and electric guitars. Liquid From A Gun features a rich array of musical instruments including Gretsch electric guitars, acoustic steel string guitar, electric bass guitar, acoustic Ludwig rock drums and backing vocals. The tempo is moderate and the running length is four minutes and sixteen seconds.
Liquid From A Gun has a curious and dreamy feel and this partly to do with its half time laid back tempo and its unusual arrangement which in some ways harks back to sounds of the fifties ballads with long reverbs and almost crooning type vocals in places and cutting upbeat guitar strokes of the verses. The dream like quality is also built around the abstract nature of lyrics which pay more than a nodding reference to songs such as The Velvet Undergrounds "I'm Waiting for the Man" and also The Stranglers "Golden Brown". The duality of the lyric perhaps leaves the listener to make their own mind up or invent their own version of events.
The arrangement and production has an analog feel but is eclectic in a time warping way using popular music sounds from the fifties, sixties and seventies to good effect. The heavily effected guitar solo with rotating Leslie speaker sounds is a great example of this. Liquid From A Gun is very listenable with very sweet and melodic tones and contrasting sections that create quite diverse textures. The production and musicianship helps offer the media producer a slow, melodic and at times powerful Indy Rock tunel to furnish his or her media production. Suitable for all kinds of media productions, especially film production, television dramas, television documentaries, web development and pod casts.
