| One can ponder if when The Beatles and EMI studio engineers set about cutting tapes in 1966 to create the backdrop for the track 'Tomorrow Never Knows' they knew how the technique would be employed some 40-years later. Still, there was nothing new in this musical approach, electronic music pioneers Karlheinz Stockhausen, Edgard Varèse and Pierre Henry had experimented with the form earlier in the century. Yet it was with The Beatles tracks like 'Tomorrow Never Knows' and 'Revolution 9' (some two years later) that the technique entered the mainstream.
Not confined to any musical genre a Music Loop is a short sample of edited music repeated continuously. The seamless edit of this music, which may also see FXs added, can then be used to form the basis of a musical composition or provide accompaniment to presentations and media productions.
The introduction of dedicated looping devices and computer editing software has led to the explosion of Music Loop popularity in recent years. Twenty looping festivals took place in 12 countries in 2004, whilst modern day artists like KT Tunstall and Ani DiFranco have joined the ranks of Grandmaster Flash (Turntablism), Terry Riley and
Robert Fripp - Brian Eno (No Pussyfooting) who have also employed the techniques.
All track previews contain an audio water mark which will not be present on purchased products.
